About Peter

Light has always been my guide — its ability to transform a moment, a landscape, or a figure is what draws me to the canvas again and again. Working in oils, acrylics, and pastels, I move between finely rendered figures and loose, impressionistic landscapes shaped by memory, emotion, and the shifting rhythms of color.

After graduating from New York University, I continued my studies at the Cape Cod School of Art and the Armory Art Center in Florida, experiences that deepened my connection to color and atmosphere. For nearly two decades, I have led painting workshops in Florida and on Cape Cod, helping others discover the joy of expressive, light‑driven painting.

Born in Cuba and painting professionally since 1984, I have spent the past eighteen years as a faculty member at the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. My work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Hibel Museum of Art, the Palm Beach Gardens Council of the Arts, and the Truro Public Library.

If you’re curious about how I approach a painting, this short video offers a glimpse into my studio and my way of working.
